Life Story for William C. Phipps, III

William C. Phipps, III
William C. “Bill” Phipps, III, age 67 of Cochranville, PA went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018. He was the loving husband of Debbie (Lovelidge) Phipps, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.
Bill was born on August 27, 1950 in Philadelphia, PA a son of the late William C. and Elinor (Cummings) Phipps.
He was a 1968 graduate of Upper Darby High School and then proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1970, including a tour in Vietnam.
He retired from Verizon after 35 years, and then worked as a commercial truck driver for several local companies.
“Big Bill” enjoyed playing basketball, softball and later umpired for many years; was an avid hunter and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Bill’s love of the Lord was demonstrated daily. He taught Sunday School (most passionately Pilgrim’s Progress), worked with Christian Service Brigade and served in other roles at Manor Presbyterian Church for many years. PopPop loved spending time with his family, traveling to see his children and grandkids, and sharing his wisdom with those he held dearest. He will be remembered by all for his enjoyment of in-depth conversation, bigger-than-life personality, and selfless service to others.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his three children:
Tara Knowlton and her husband, Marc of Beverly, MA and their children, Matt, Tori, Jacob and Ellie
Jason Phipps and his wife, Kara of Quarryville, PA and their children, Julia, Derek and Natalie
Andrew Phipps and his wife, Jenny, stationed in Puerto Rico and their children Violet and Hazel
Siblings:
