Obituary for James J. Graney

JAMES J. GRANEY, 77, of Brogue, PA died on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 in WellSpan York Hospital, York, PA. For 40 years, he was the beloved husband of Roberta (Pufko) Graney. Born November 6, 1941 in Ardmore, PA he was the son of the late Robert and Rita (McDowd) Graney and the oldest of four children. Jim’s favorite memories from childhood involved learning to ride horses with his uncle, Jim McDowd.

Proud to be a veteran, Jim served as a United States Marine for five years. His time in the service encouraged him to travel which he continued throughout his life. Jim also continued his childhood passion as an avid horseman. Jim most enjoyed fox hunting and riding cross country on his horses: Volt, Chancey, Bombay and numerous others over the years. In addition to equestrian pursuits, he enjoyed fishing, target shooting and decadent meals with friends and family. For 30 years, he worked for the Philadelphia Electric Company at Peach Bottom, Limerick and TMI power plants. Jim worked as a maintenance electrician, eventually progressing to an electrical/outage planner before retiring in 1996. After retirement, he continued to work as a contractor for the electric company. Once finally settling into his retirement, James loved to work on his farm.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by;
A daughter, Amanda Graney and son-in-law Brandon Bush of Wrightsville, PA and one grandson, Benjamin Bush

Jim’s cremated remains will be spread by his immediate family at his farm. The family intends to host a salute to Jim’s life; date and location will be made available.
