Life Story for Lula Belle Summers

Lula Belle Summers

Lula Belle Summers, 75 years of North East, MD died on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Reverend Larry E. Summers who died in 1999.

Born on April 25, 1943 in Nicholas County, WV, Mrs. Summers was a daughter of the late Berman J. and Leona (Hypes) Ganoe and moved to Maryland shortly after her marriage to her late husband in 1963. From their wedding day, Lula and her husband were rarely apart as she dedicated her life to supporting his ministry as a devoted pastor’s wife. She was known to remark, “He would preach and I would pray.” In addition, Lula was known to tell everyone about her Jesus and enjoyed singing his praises through hymns.

To her family, Lula was a loving mother and grandmother. She would go fishing with her family and cherished the times spent with her grandchildren. “Selfless” as her family spoke of her, she cared for the family home, helped her friends and was quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her love and affection will be missed by many.

She is survived by:

A great grandson, Joshua Summers, Jr.
