Meet our Staff
Our caring service begins with the notification from your family of the passing of your loved one and continues through our grief aftercare program. We strive to provide affordable dignity with personal care and have been trusted by families since 1930.
Being a smaller funeral home is to your advantage; you’ll come face to face with virtually every member of our staff, so it is like we are here to serve only your family.
Please revisit for the updated staff information and photographs.
Patricia C. (Thomas) Hushon, otherwise known as Patti, has been with Harkins since 1994. Over the years Patti’s job has changed significantly. She now not only handles many of the day-to-day functions of the business; she is also actively involved with many of the families we serve at Harkins. Her ability to tackle any task is invaluable, but it is her genuine compassion and care for the families that makes her another exceptional member of the Harkins staff.
Rusty Leftwich is a familiar face at nearly all of the viewings/visitations and many funerals here at Harkins. Rusty joined our family in June of 2015 brining his longtime knowledge of working with the public with him as he had been a first responder as well as coordinating final services for deceased responders in many Maryland counties. He greets, provides information, works behind the scenes and coordinates our fire personnel funerals/visitations for locations, processions and family care. Kind and caring most certainly describe Rusty.
Joe Cochran was brought onto the Harkins Team by Bob in August of 2011. He immediately “fit right in” and became one of the gentlemen to bring loved ones back to the funeral home for arrangements. Joe can be found assisting with parking, offering friendly information inside during viewings and traffic control when our processions are pulling out onto a busy road. Joe stepped down from the removal team rotation this past summer to concentrate on building and grounds appearance as well as the “please go get” person who does all of the errand running. Joe always has a smile and a kind word for everyone.
Katie Anderson is a recent addition to our family. Katie’s outgoing compassionate personality enables her to be the ideal person to work the viewings/visitations and funerals with Rusty. In addition, with her professional graphic artistry she creates our custom printing including memorial folders, thank you cards, remembrance dvd presentations, candles and memory books. Katie always has a kind word that heals and a spirit that brings peace.
John Eid joined the Harkins Team in September 2016. In addition to his dedication to serve your family, he cares for general maintenance of the building, many of the renewals to the interior as well as the exterior and keeps the automobiles ready for any moment’s notice. All it takes is a text message for John to respond, “What can I do to help?” A priceless quality.
Anthony Hall joined Harkins in June 2009 and is a part of the two-man team with John as well as filling in when needed. Tony can be counted on for that last minute “Can you walk down to the funeral home and handle what activity has presented itself? “when the staff is away on services or interments. With his great smile and positive attitude, he makes everyone feel welcome and is always offering his help.
Mike Smith joined the team at Harkins in August 2006 and Tim Haller in March 2017. Together they form our second team. Mike has dedicated many years to our families and actually brought Tim on board and “showed him the ropes” so to speak. When Harkins is involved in community events, both are always eager to volunteer. It is the dedication of such great guys like Mike and Tim that make the Harkins experience personal and compassionate.
Joe Ende is one of our caring team members and he pairs up with any of the guys when he is on call. Joe brings his caring touch to each service or removal he makes. He always answers any call or text immediately, joined Harkins in March 2017 and is definitely one of our “go to” guys.
Scott Towson, John Sliger and Pat Cochran introductions coming soon.
