Life Story for Florence Louise Ford

FORENCE LOUISE FORD, 99 of York, PA, formerly of Whiteford, MD died on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in her home at Country Meadows of Leader Heights. Wife of the late Owen B. Ford, they had shared 67 years of marriage at the time of his death on February 23, 2010.

Born in Pylesville, MD on June 2, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Harry T. McCallister and Lydia (Bailey) McCallister. Florence graduated from the former Delta High School in 1936 and had been a member of Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church for over 50 years where she had served as deacon and was active in the Women’s Association.

She and Owen had lived on the family farm in Whiteford until January of 2002 when they moved to Country Meadows of Leader Heights in York, PA. Since then she had made many new friends. She loved to work crossword puzzles, play dominos, was very talented at knitting and crochet gifting numerous people with lap robes and afghans. While caring for the home, she owned and operated her own beauty shop until she retired in 1983.

She is survived by:
One brother, Harry McCallister of Whiteford, MD

Many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her: son, Dennis Owen Ford and sisters: Eleanor Gehr & Helen Whiteford.

Services will be held at Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1630 Chestnut Street, Cardiff/Whiteford, MD 21160 with a viewing on Wednesday the 31st from 7 to 9 p.m. and the funeral service on Thursday, November 1st at 1:00 p.m. Her pastor, Reverend Kenneth Osborne will co-officiate with the Chaplain Leon Via, III from Country Meadows.

Interment will follow in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, PA. A luncheon will be held after the committal service in Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church social hall.
