RICHARD HANLON BRITTON, 74 of Delta, PA, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Baltimore, MD. He was the beloved husband of Jo Ann (Scarborough) Britton, and they had shared 55 years of marriage.

Born June 11, 1943 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Hanlon Kirkwood and Mary Elizabeth (Tyson) Britton. A 1961 graduate of North Harford High School in Pylesville, MD, he continued his education at Salisbury State College then transferred to Harford Community College where he received his associate’s degree in engineering. Dick was a 50 plus year member of Slateville Presbyterian Church. Dedicating service for over 50 years with Delta-Cardiff V.F.C., he was one of the first volunteer paramedics in York County. Dick was a referee for youth sports including soccer, basketball and baseball on rec, high school and college levels. Dick was a member and past master of Friendship Lodge #663 F&AM of Fawn Grove, member of Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo Shrine of York, PA. Part of his service as a Shriner was transporting children to and from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dick was an avid Ravens fan having season tickets since 1996 when the team came to Baltimore.

Dick began his career working for the former Whiteford Packing Company, followed by installing flooring in Baltimore, MD. Dick was employed next with the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center followed by 34 years of federal service with Aberdeen Proving Ground retiring in 1999 as a Senior Test Director. In retirement, he worked as a government contractor and since 2009, was a dedicated employee of Harkins Funeral Home.

Two great grandchildren - Mason Hooper and Jameson Spurlock

He was preceded in death by his brother, David Britton in 2004.

Viewing will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 (5 to 8 p.m.) at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St. Delta, with Masonic Service at 7:45 p.m. Funeral staff will be outside to assist with parking as well as handicap needs.

Funeral Services to be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Slateville Presbyterian Church, 308 Slateville Rd., Delta, PA 17314 with his pastor, Reverend Kenneth Osborne officiating.

Interment in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta.
