Eugene R.   Schnetzka
EUGENE R. SCHNETZKA, 81 of Delta, PA, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was married to the late R. Carolyn (Scotten) Schnetzka, and at the time of her passing in July 2014, they had shared 58 years of marriage.

Born on September 3, 1936 in New Park, PA, he was a son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Markle) Schnetzka. A 1954 Kennard Dale High School graduate, Eugene was a volunteer at Delta-Cardiff VFC for over 35 years serving as captain, a paramedic and drove the ambulance every Wednesday night. Being a social man, Eugene loved life, and you could find him riding his bicycle on Chestnut Street, Delta, PA stopping along the way to say hello to his neighbors. Family was very important to him, and he adored driving his grandchildren around to wherever they needed to be. Retiring in 2006, Eugene had worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground as an Ammo-Explosive Technician

He is survived by:
Four children-
Jeanne Heffner, husband, Scott of Brogue, PA
Connie Johnson, husband, Jay of Delta, PA
Sandee Mattlin, husband, Mike of Delta, PA
John Schnetzka, wife, Sheila of Delta, PA

Three siblings:
Hilda Miller of Stewartstown, PA
Jackie Stohler of Shrewsbury, PA
David Schnetzka of Fawn Grove, PA

Seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Orwig.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 12-1 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA 17314 where the funeral service will begin at 1p.m. Pastor Tim Klein will be officiating with internment at Bryansville Cemetery, 2788 Bryansville Road, Delta, PA. Military honors will be presented by the Pennsylvania National Guard Honor Guard.

Funeral staff will be outside during all services to assist with parking as well as handicap needs.
