Dorothy Louise  Maynard
DOROTHY LOUISE MAYNARD, 90 years of Street, MD, died on Friday August 4, 2017 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Dorothy was the beloved wife of Robert Maynard, and they had celebrated their 53rd anniversary on April 9, 2017.

Born on October 5, 1926 in Whiteford, MD, she was a daughter of the late Edward Dawson and Grace (Morgan) Norris. A 1943 graduate of the former Highland High School in Street, MD, she was an active member of the school alumni. Dorothy began her career during WWII in the tailor shop at the former Bainbridge Naval Training Center where she was employed until the conclusion of the war. In the early 1950’s, she returned to Bainbridge where she worked as a civil service employee, retiring as a budget analyst with over 27 years of service in 1976. In retirement, she cared for her parents, enjoyed sewing, reading, embroidery and spending time with her granddaughters.

In addition, Dorothy was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Whiteford, MD and the former Cambria United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by:
A daughter, Joann J. Brucksch and her husband, Robert of Street, MD

Two grandchildren- Elizabeth Grace Brucksch and Sarah Anne Brucksch

Visitations will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the second visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday followed immediately with the funeral service. Pastor Ricardo Jefferson and Pastor Arthur Justice will co-officiate.

Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, PA.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to Mt. Vernon U.M. Church, 1510 Deep Run Road, Whiteford, MD 21160.

Funeral staff will be outside during all services to assist with parking as well as handicap needs.
