William Thomas “Tom” Moore, Sr. 82 of Street, MD, died on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill. Married on September 13, 1958, he was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Greene) Moore.

Tom was born on August 26, 1934 in Lexington, VA, a son of the late Harry Chambers Moore and Margaret (Bell) Moore. He graduated from Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Virginia and earned his B.S. in Dairy Science from Virginia Tech in 1957. While in college, he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served until his retirement in 1985. A member of the Highland Presbyterian Church in Street, MD, he served as a deacon, a trustee and an elder. Visiting church members and the elderly were important to Tom, and something he looked forward to. Tom was a member of the Jarrettsville Lions Club for over 40 years, serving as treasurer for 32 of those years.
Part of an informal group who met at the Taylor Haus Family Restaurant in Stewartstown, PA, he could be found there for breakfast several days a week. About a year ago, Tom came home with a bright red Ford Mustang, which he thoroughly enjoyed. A staunch Ravens fan, he held season tickets and was known to attend the games no matter the weather. Tom also loved his Virginia Tech Hokies and made sure everyone knew how his Hokie teams were doing. He was a member of the Old Guard as a 50 year alumni of Virginia Tech.
