Thomas E.  Berg
THOMAS E. BERG., 67 years of Delta, PA, formerly of Baltimore,MD, died on Friday, March 24, 2017 in the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. Married 47 years, he was the loving husband of Constance Marie (Harris) Berg. Born on April 5, 1949 in Baltimore, Tom was the oldest son of Mary Johanna (Gross) Berg and the late Paul John Berg.

Tom was an innovative and dedicated teacher at North Harford Middle School in Pylesville, MD for 39 years, teaching 8thgrade social studies and language arts classes. Outside the classroom, Tom was a much-loved soccer coach, coaching boys’ soccer from 1972 to 1984. Having two daughters of his own, Tom was an advocate for women’s sports and started the girls’ soccer team in 1985. He was the only coach the girls’ team had until the fall of 2016. In addition to 44-years of soccer, Tom also coached girls’ softball and co-directed the theatrical plays at North Harford for many years. Promoting the importance of education, he was a representative of the Harford County Education Association Teachers Union for decades. Tom will forever be remembered for his patience, commitment and generosity.

Leah Hauserman

He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Berg and niece, Tara Berg.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the memorial service will also be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral staff will be outside during all services to assist with parking and handicap needs.
