Life Story for J. Donnell Taylor

J. Donnell  Taylor
J. DONNELL TAYLOR, age 77 years of Delta, PA died at his home at 12:05 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017. He was the husband of Peggy (Johnson) Taylor. They observed their 58th wedding anniversary on November 7.

Mr. Taylor was born at Brogue, PA on April 24, 1939 a son of the late O. Vernard and Emma (Arnold) Taylor. He was a 1957 graduate of the former Lower Chanceford High School in Airville and had served as a Lower Chanceford Township supervisor.
A lifelong dairy farmer, Mr. Taylor also considered farming his hobby. His farming affiliations were as a member of the PA Holstein Assn. and a board member of the PA Farm Bureau.
He was an active member of the McKendree United Methodist Church in Airville where he was a former Sunday School teacher, choir member, and also served on a variety of church committees.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

Four sons: Thomas L. Taylor and his wife, Christine (Shaw)
Steven J. Taylor and his wife, Sherri (Metz)
Alan D. Taylor and his wife, Denise (Daugherty)
Jerry R. Taylor and his wife, Patrice (Ludwig)

Eleven grandchildren: Zachariah Taylor and his wife, Angela, Jacob Taylor, Lauren Taylor, Devin Taylor, Brittany Miller and her husband, Brent, Tyler Taylor, Brady Taylor, Michael Taylor, Andrew Taylor and his wife, Kayla, Lindsey Taylor and Austin Taylor and his wife, Karson

Two step grandsons: Darryl Hill and Steven Clay

Four great grandchildren: David, Emily, Colton and Riley Taylor

Three sisters: Delores Tyson, Nancy Grove and Deanie King

Three brothers: Elmo Taylor, Samuel Taylor and Joe Taylor

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Marie Taylor.

The viewings will be held on Thursday, March 16 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the McKendree United Methodist Church, 3708 Delta Road, Airville, PA 17302.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with his pastor, Rev. Gary L. Daugherty officiating.

Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the church at the above address or Hospice and Community Care, 224 St. Charles Way, York, PA 17403 would be appreciated.
