Condolence: This is shocking for me. I knew Bear from 1989 until about 1996. We dated for about a year in 1990. He was such a fantastic guy. We kept in touch for a number of years after. My 2 girls are about the same age as Jason and Ben. For some reason, I just googled his name and this came up. I am at a loss for words. Bear was so much fun to be around.

Please accept my deepest sympathy. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Condolence: Hello,

Professor Grant was a valuable asset to the UB Community. Although I did not know him well, I was very aware of his contributions to our school and to the law enforcement field. He made a big impact on my brother George and therefore he was someone who I look up to. My sincerest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Condolence: Professor Grant was a great mentor to my brother and to others at UB. He helped so many people and protected so many. I will always remember his legacy even though I did not know him well.

Condolence: In class, Prof. Grant always stated, "man, if I had daughters..." and every woman understood. He's gone too soon and we will all miss him. As one of his students he has definitely had an impact on me and many others that I know.

Prof. Grant we will miss you!

Condolence: Berry was a dear friend. He is the one who reached out to me and eventually was instrumental in bringing me to the University of Baltimore. There is not a single instance that I can recall that being with Berry, speaking with Berry, or emailing with Berry was anything but fun, happy, and wonderful. Berry was a man of his word and any promises he made, he kept. That is one of the measures I use to determine my respect for a person. I respected him greatly. I was fortunate to know Berry and more fortunate that on Friday the 24th of February, we got together at USG for a session on using some Forensic tools. I had prepared some goodies for Berry and he was overjoyed to receive them. He then took me a lunch at a new restaurant neither one of us had been to before. The food was wonderful. We had some great conversation about work, politics, and history. Overall we must have spent some 5-6 hours together. When he was leaving, I gave my friend a parking voucher and as I stepped out of the elevator, he stuck his head out with his mustache smile to thank me once again for the material. I looked at him with a smile that always came naturally when talking to Berry and we both waved goodbye and agreed to meet again in the next few days. That scene is forever etched on my mind now as I found out two days after that Berry was gone. It goes without saying that all those he came across in his life were touched by him. The University of Baltimore's Forensic program owes its existence to Berry Grant and for generations to come, there will be hundreds and even thousands who will go through it and have their lives changed for the better because of what he started. Missing you my dear friend and wish you were here.
