Life Story for Robert LeRoy "Roy" Houck

Robert LeRoy "Roy"  Houck
Robert LeRoy “Roy” Houck, age 85 years of Conowingo, MD and formerly of Street, MD died on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Citizens Care Center in Havre de Grace, MD. He was the husband of Minnie Belle “Cookie” (Barker)Houck. They observed their 64th wedding anniversary on July 31, 2016.

Mr. Houck was born in Havre de Grace, MD on December 3, 1931 a son of the late Delbert A. and Alice R. (Jordan) Houck. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran who served from January, 1952 to December, 1955, mostly aboard the USS Thuban. A machinist by trade, Mr. Houck owned and operated Houck’s Small Engine Service from 1980-2004 in Street, MD. He and his wife moved to Conowingo in 2004. He joined the Emory United Methodist Church in Street in 1970. Mr. Houck was also a member of the John S. Murphy Post #7130, V.F.W. in Delta, PA and the Slate Ridge Post #182, American Legion in Whiteford, MD. A Master Mason, he was a member of Esdraelon Lodge #176 A.F. & A.M., Cardiff, MD.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
Three children
Ronald L. Houck and his wife, Lou Ann of Airville, PA
Jeffery S. Houck and his wife, Tammie of Delta, PA
Susan H. Gorhan of Street, MD

Five grandchildren
Russell L. Houck, Mindy Guglielmi, Rebecca Houck, Heather Gorhan and Megan Herbert

Also survived by five great grandchildren

One sister, Ruth King of Pea Ridge, AR

One brother, Donald Houck of Aberdeen, MD

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Houck and Delbert Houck, his sister, Margaret Essaf and his son-in-law, Ronald Gorhan.

Friends may call on Thursday, February 16th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p. m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Stephen E. Smith of Emory U.M. Church officiating.

Interment with military honors will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.

Funeral staff will be outside during all services to assist with parking as well as handicap needs.
