Obituary for Oretha Alwanda McClung

ORETHA ALWANDA McCLUNG, 92 years, of Bel Air, MD died February 3rd, 2017 at Upper Chesapeake Hospital. Born October 30th, 1924, in Hughart, WV, she was a daughter of the late Orin M. and Ollie Maudest (Fisher) Gilkeson and the widow of George Willard McClung who died April 12, 1970.

Oretha was dedicated to her family, raising her son and two nieces as a homemaker. She also worked as a school bus driver with local routes for Harford Christian School. Oretha lovingly served as the church secretary for over 40 years at the Reformation Bible Church in Darlington (formerly Evangelical Methodist Church). She was very active inside and outside her home; she could sew, and artfully crochet and knit while also keeping a meticulous and unique garden. Oretha grew all kinds of vegetables, mulberries, figs, and even grapes. She was an animal lover leaving behind multiple ducks and geese that enjoyed her care. Oretha's warmth and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.
